You Left for Work. God Sent You Anyway.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10

You didn’t leave home thinking you were stepping into ministry. You left because life demanded it. Opportunity, responsibility, survival. It felt practical, not spiritual.

But Scripture has a way of reframing ordinary decisions. Ephesians says that the good works we walk into were already prepared ahead of time. Not just the big, dramatic ones. Even the quiet, unnoticed spaces you now occupy.

You are in rooms most missionaries spend years trying to access. Offices, homes, communities where trust is already built, not borrowed. You are not an outsider trying to enter. You are already inside.

That matters.

Mission is not always a change of location. Sometimes it is a change of awareness. The realization that where you are is not random, and the people around you are not accidental.

God does not waste placement.

This does not mean adding pressure to an already heavy life. It does not mean forcing conversations or performing spirituality. It means paying attention. It means responding differently. It means allowing your faith to shape how you treat people, how you endure difficulty, how you carry hope in quiet ways.

You don’t need a new role to live on mission. You don’t need a platform. You don’t need to wait until life feels more stable.

You are already walking into things God has prepared.

The question is not whether your work abroad has meaning in God’s plan.

The question is whether you will recognize that you were sent, even when it didn’t feel like it.
